GitOps introduction for traceable deployments
Configurations are changed outside approved repositories, and their actual state is difficult to compare with the intended version. With a GitOps introduction, we offer you managed reconciliation between a versioned target description and the running environment.
Bring the declared target state and actual operations together
Our offering is aimed at platform teams with declarative configurations and frequent changes. For companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, we plan the GitOps approach based on the existing systems and the collaboration required.
For GitOps deployment, we define which configuration set counts as the desired state and how changes get there. Reconciliation with the runtime environment requires limited rights and traceable feedback. A repository is no substitute for business approval; it represents the agreed change path technically. Repository rights can therefore have a direct operational effect and must be treated accordingly.
For declarative deployment, we consider how manual interventions and emergencies are handled. A short-term fix can be overwritten at the next reconciliation if it is not incorporated into the intended state. For the GitOps introduction, we therefore describe a controlled procedure for such situations. Secrets are not stored in plain text simply because other configurations are versioned. Acceptance tests deviations, faulty changes and the restoration of an earlier permitted state. In this way, the GitOps approach creates a visible link between review, desired configuration and actual operations.
Scope of services for the GitOps introduction
The agreed scope for GitOps deployment can include the following deliverables: repository structure, synchronisation rules, approval procedure, secret integration and emergency process. For each key deliverable, we define what it is for, who reviews it and in what form it is handed over. This allows development, operations and procurement to assess the same service. Vague umbrella terms in the proposal are replaced by specific work packages.
Declarative deployment also includes agreeing the necessary interfaces with your team. We clarify access, contact persons and available testing options before the relevant implementation steps. Changes to the scope are described together with their impact on effort and sequence. This gives you a clear overview of delivered results, outstanding prerequisites and additional requests.
The key technical decision in the GitOps introduction
Automatic reconciliation and manual approvals are combined according to risk. Not every deviation should be corrected without review. For the GitOps approach, we document the relevant assumptions and explain the reasons for the chosen option. Key alternatives are considered against the same business requirements. This makes later adjustments easier if load, data volume or organisational responsibility change.
A sound decision also takes maintainability and handover into account. For GitOps deployment, we check which skills are available internally and what additional support is needed. Technical possibilities are thus linked to a realistic operating model. The client can see which tasks will recur after the project and which decisions remain with them.
What supports good decisions.

Impact, not promises.
Risks and acceptance in the GitOps approach
An incorrectly approved target state can be rolled out automatically and later overwrite manual emergency measures. In declarative deployment, we treat this point as a specific review question. Each risk is linked to the affected process, its possible impact and a suitable measure. Where prerequisites are still missing, the statement is explicitly left open until the necessary investigation has been carried out.
We test drift, faulty configuration, interrupted synchronisation and the managed procedure for urgent operational changes. For the GitOps introduction, we record the starting situation, the tested configuration and the result. Acceptance refers to the agreed scope. Open limitations are documented visibly and assigned to an owned next step. This allows your team to distinguish between proven functionality, a deliberate decision and an assumption that has not yet been confirmed.
Project example as an illustrative scenario
The following scenario is an application example and not a customer reference. An operations team changes cluster configurations both via the repository and directly in the running environment. In the GitOps introduction, the first step would be to clarify which state should be authoritative. The pilot would cover an application with manageable dependencies. Its desired state would have to be derivable from a known and approved source version.
For the GitOps approach, the team would try out a change, a manual deviation and a faulty target state. The decisive question would be whether reconciliation shows deviations clearly and manages only the intended resources. In an emergency intervention, it would have to be clear how automatic reversals are prevented and how the configuration actually intended is then documented again. Secrets and far-reaching administrative rights would be handled separately. A simple repository rollback would not automatically guarantee a safe return in the case of data migrations.
Acceptance of the GitOps deployment would demonstrate a controlled change path and the handling of a deliberate deviation. Planned deliverables would be a single source of state, appropriate rights and usable diagnostic information. The operations team would have to be able to recognise whether a problem originates in the definition, the reconciliation or a dependent component. Further applications would only be added once their states and intervention paths are compatible with this model. The benefit would lie in traceable changes, not in a blanket abolition of every manual operational decision.
Our experience and our engineering approach
We combine custom software development with the technical tasks of introduction and further development. For the GitOps approach, we bring the perspectives of application, integration and operations into a shared workflow. Business requirements remain linked to technical decisions. You work with a defined scope of services and traceable results.
Our experience should be verifiable for your specific project. That is why, in the technical discussion, we explain how we examine the relevant risks, which deliverables are planned and how your team can assess them. For GitOps deployment, we match the roles involved to the actual need. Available references are presented with their respective project and company context; confidential customer details are not used as general marketing claims.
Effort for GitOps deployment
The number of environments, the desired degree of automation and the complexity of shared configuration determine the scope. We therefore calculate the GitOps introduction on the basis of a clearly defined scope and explicitly stated prerequisites. An initial analysis step can make sense if key technical information is still missing. Work packages and acceptance criteria can then be agreed more reliably.
The GitOps approach can be organised as a limited project, as a joint implementation with your team or with subsequent support. Rights of use, access, documentation and responsibilities are clarified in the contract. Ongoing operating hours, response times and external consumption costs are subject to separate agreements. This makes it clear which services are provided once and which tasks recur after the introduction.
What the GitOps introduction does not cover
The approach is no substitute for backing up user data and does not automatically make every data migration reversible. For declarative deployment, we state this limit in the proposal itself. Any additional services required are included with their business rationale and are not silently assumed. This allows your team to plan suitable internal skills and divide the overall work sensibly among those involved.
