Managed SRE for supported reliability
The team responds to incidents but finds too little time for recurring causes, operations automation and improving its ability to act. With Managed SRE, we offer you an agreed support framework with measurable goals, a managed response and continuous technical improvement.
Organising external SRE support with a clear handover
Our offering is aimed at companies without sufficient in-house capacity for continuous reliability work. For companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, we plan the SRE service around the existing systems and the collaboration required.
With external SRE support, we define which services and tasks are taken over and where responsibility remains with the internal team. Operational support, further development of reliability and on-call duty are different services. Their combination is agreed explicitly. This includes access, escalation paths and the conditions under which changes may be made.
For SRE coverage, we record the current operational state: signals, known incidents, restart paths and technical debt. This results in a prioritised backlog for stabilisation and improvement. With Managed SRE, recurring manual tasks are examined to see whether their cause can be eliminated or their execution sensibly automated. An agreed report links incidents to the measures derived from them. Response times and staffed time windows are not silently assumed but defined to match the need. This allows the SRE service to fit into an existing operations team and be evaluated on concrete results. Collaboration remains traceable even when several service providers or internal owners are involved.
Scope of services for Managed SRE
The agreed scope for external SRE support can include the following results: service catalogue, responsibility model, onboarding, operations review, action backlog and agreed response paths. For each significant result, we define what it serves, who reviews it and in what form it is handed over. This allows development, operations and procurement to assess the same service. Vague umbrella terms are replaced in the quote by specific work packages.
SRE coverage also includes coordinating the necessary interfaces with your team. We clarify access, contact persons and available testing options before the affected implementation steps. Changes to the scope are described along with their effect on effort and sequence. This gives you a clear overview of delivered results, outstanding prerequisites and additional requests.
The key technical decision in Managed SRE
The scope is defined per service. Monitoring, error analysis, operational interventions and on-call duty are different commitments. For the SRE service, we document the relevant assumptions and justify the chosen option. Significant alternatives are considered against the same business requirements. This makes later adjustments easier when load, data volume or organisational responsibility change.
A sound decision also takes maintainability and handover into account. With external SRE support, we examine which skills are available in house and what additional support is needed. Technical options are thus connected with a realistic operating model. The client can see which tasks will arise regularly after the project and which decisions remain with them.
What supports good decisions.

Impact, not promises.
Risks and acceptance in the SRE service
Unclear responsibilities can lead to several people waiting for one another, especially during an incident. We treat this point as a specific review question in SRE coverage. A risk is linked to the affected process, its possible impact and a suitable measure. Where prerequisites are still missing, the statement explicitly remains open until the necessary investigation has taken place.
We check the availability of contact persons, readiness of access, the quality of the runbooks and the actual completion of agreed improvements. For Managed SRE, we record the initial situation, the tested configuration and the result. Acceptance relates to the agreed scope. Open limitations are documented visibly and assigned to a next step with clear ownership. This allows your team to distinguish between proven functionality, a deliberate decision and an assumption that has not yet been confirmed.
Project example as an illustrative scenario
The following scenario is an application example and not a customer reference. A SaaS company wants to relieve its internal development team of looking after an important application. With Managed SRE, the scope would first be separated into monitoring, analysis, specific interventions and on-call duty. A shared operating model would have to define which decisions the external team may make and which remain with the product owner.
For the SRE service, the takeover would be tested on real operational procedures. This would include a limited access test, the handling of a known incident and a traceable handover to the internal team. Undocumented knowledge would have to be made visible during this process. Recurring errors would feed into a technical improvement plan instead of being dealt with solely as individual tickets. Response paths would also have to work when another service provider or an internal specialist department is involved. Support hours would be agreed explicitly.
Acceptance of the external SRE support would show whether access, information and responsibilities are sufficient for the scope taken over. The planned results would be reliable onboarding, a service catalogue and a regular review process. The company could assess which tasks are actually taken over and which capabilities are still needed internally. An ongoing service would only be expanded on the basis of these agreements. Round-the-clock support would not be an implicit part of a general SRE offering.
Our experience and our engineering approach
We combine custom software development with the technical tasks of introduction and further development. For the SRE service, we bring the perspectives of application, integration and operations together in a shared workflow. The business requirements remain connected to the technical decisions. You work with a defined scope of services and traceable results.
Our experience should be verifiable for your project in concrete terms. That is why, in the technical exchange, we explain how we investigate the relevant risks, which work results are planned and how your team can assess them. For external SRE support, we match the roles involved to the actual need. Available references are presented with their respective project and company context; confidential customer details are not used as general marketing claims.
Effort for external SRE support
Support hours, intervention rights, number of services and existing technical debt determine the monthly service. We therefore calculate Managed SRE on the basis of a defined scope and explicitly stated prerequisites. An initial analysis step can make sense if significant technical information is still missing. After that, work packages and acceptance criteria can be agreed more reliably.
The SRE service can be organised as a limited project, as a joint implementation with your team or with subsequent support. Rights of use, access, documentation and responsibilities are clarified in the contract. Ongoing operating hours, response times and external consumption costs are separate agreements. This keeps it clear which services are provided once and which tasks arise regularly after introduction.
Scope limits of Managed SRE
Round-the-clock support is not promised across the board but agreed with an on-call model and service limits. For SRE coverage, we set out this limit in the quote. Required additional services are included with their business rationale and are not silently assumed. This allows your team to plan suitable internal skills and divide the overall work sensibly between those involved.

Complexity is real. Lack of clarity does not have to be.
