Austria leads the way in Europe – Anexia welcomes the European Declaration on Digital Sovereignty
PRESS RELEASE. The joint declaration by all 27 EU member states is a strong demonstration of will and a clear call to action. Anexia CEO Alexander Windbichler: “We are ready to make digital sovereignty a reality.”

The Austrian cloud company Anexia and its subsidiaries, including the German company netcup, welcome the “Declaration on European Digital Sovereignty” initiated by Austria with great confidence. It is a milestone in Europe's quest for digital sovereignty and a strong sign of our continent's unity when it comes to our technological future.
The companies, institutions, and citizens of our continent deserve a digital infrastructure that offers security and transparency. An infrastructure that is not dependent on third parties, cannot be manipulated, and reliably protects their data. If Europe speaks with one voice on the international stage and joins forces, this goal is achievable. The Declaration on European Digital Sovereignty, signed by all 27 EU member states, is a strong signal in this direction.
CEO Windbichler: “Digital sovereignty is achievable”
“Europe's digital sovereignty is not a dream, but a realistic goal,” explains Anexia CEO Alexander Windbichler. “Europe has numerous strong companies that can and want to take on this task. ‘Made in Europe’ means security, reliability, and transparency. That is the European promise – and it is worth a lot.”
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to operate digital infrastructures in Europe with European rather than international providers. In addition, Europe must require international corporations to offer their services under European conditions. In this way, Europe will regain control over its own digital infrastructures.
The Declaration on European Digital Sovereignty clearly shows that the whole of Europe is behind this goal. “The declaration is a milestone,” Windbichler concluded. “And it is a clear call to action for everyone who wants to strengthen Europe.”
