From ingenious smart home technology to efficient oil cooling and a real racing driver feeling: the students of HTL Mössingerstraße in Klagenfurt have once again proven that they can creatively implement technical ideas. The Technicus Award 2024, presented by the HTL Mössingerstraße Alumni Association, honoured the students’ best and forward-looking projects.
The motto of this year’s Technicus Award, which is endowed with a total of 4,600 Euros, was “Momentum – Exploring the Future”. Once again, the students succeeded in transforming the theme into 15 innovative projects with a visionary character. This was no easy task for the graduates of HTL Mössingerstraße and now entrepreneurs Alexander Windbichler from Anexia, Christian Smerietschnig from BigBang and Michael Marketz from Kärnten Netz, who acted as the jury to select the winners.
Innovative winning projects
The students were victorious with their projects on innovative energy storage systems, power generation using piezoelectricity and detecting heat sources using drones. Another winning project also focused on a drone that provides permanent aerial images for the fire brigade. The jury was also impressed by a model-sized autonomous boat.
“Talent needs to be nurtured from the ground up. If you are trusted to do something, it boosts your self-esteem from an early age,” says Alexander Windbichler, Managing Director of Anexia. “It’s important to maintain a love of creation,” adds Christian Smerietschnig, Managing Director of BigBang. “This is the only way we can get the best out of our students. By motivating and supporting them, we encourage them to realize their full potential and be successful,” says Burkhard Grabner, Chairman of the Alumni Association and teacher at HTL Mössingerstraße, who believes it is important to build on strengths.
One thing is already clear: next year, the students of HTL Mössingerstraße will once again impress the jury members with their extraordinary project ideas at the Technicus Award of the Alumni Association. Because their determination and creativity don’t know any bounds!
