Senior System Engineer (m/f/d) – Storage & Backup

As a Senior System Engineer, you take on a key technical role in the further development of our storage platforms. You justify technical decisions in a sustainable and comprehensible way and enjoy sharing your knowledge and helping colleagues grow professionally.

#Profile

 

  • Planning, design and further development of our enterprise storage infrastructure (incl. technical concepts, architecture decisions and operating standards), as well as operation, engineering and lifecycle management of our NetApp environments
  • Analysis and optimization of performance, capacity, availability and data security
  • Execution of migrations, upgrades and storage-related infrastructure projects
  • Support with complex incidents, root-cause analyses and problem management
  • Standardization and automation of recurring operational processes, as well as further development of monitoring, alerting and observability concepts
  • Assessment of existing storage workloads and evaluation of complementary or replacement storage technologies (e.g. Ceph, S3-compatible object storage, ZFS or distributed file systems)

 

#Wanted

  • Several years of experience in the operation, design and lifecycle management of enterprise storage solutions
  • In-depth know-how in the NetApp ecosystem (ONTAP, NAS/SAN, SnapMirror, MetroCluster, highly available storage architectures), as well as with storage protocols such as NFS, SMB/CIFS and iSCSI
  • Solid knowledge of Linux-based environments, virtualization platforms and modern data center infrastructures
  • Understanding of high availability, replication, backup/recovery concepts and disaster recovery
  • Experience in automation, e.g. with Ansible, Python, Bash or comparable tools
  • Knowledge of complementary storage technologies such as Ceph, S3-compatible object storage or ZFS-based platforms is an advantage
