Artificial intelligence – once the realm of fiction, today an ever-present reality. Be it Siri, driverless cars or voice-based assistants, developments are moving fast. Nowadays, artificial intelligence (AI) can be found in almost every piece of software. Users often do not recognize artificial intelligence as such. In general terms, artificial intelligence seeks to simulate human intelligence and to learn autonomously using machines and systems. It can thus solve problems by itself and can perform certain tasks as well as—or better than—a person. With our experience and ongoing research, we can support you in developing your own artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence is highly versatile in use. Its range of application includes machines and systems that perform tasks for which human intelligence is needed. Its use in medicine with robots for particular surgical steps and its use on production lines are now almost generally accepted. AI has also been present for a long time in games and has been successfully employed in board games such as checkers and chess. Apart from this, however, early-warning systems, automated detection of text passages and fraud detection are all application areas of AI. You can make use of the many possibilities of artificial intelligence in your own business.
The success of AI is largely dependent on three variables: data, storage capacity, and processing power. The immense data volumes involved are the basis for successful AI. Thanks to increasing storage capacities and in particular to growing processing power, ever more complex AI procedures and configurations can be used.
Our research and development division enables our employees to constantly develop new ideas and potential applications. The field of artificial intelligence is continuing to develop, and so more and more opportunities are opening up for your business. Have our research and experience from all kinds of projects work to your benefit.
Any AI system is based on a model in which the exact question and challenge is defined. Each use case requires a different approach, method and procedure. Our experienced teams can support you in designing your AI project and work with you to define the exact potential applications for your business.
Artificial intelligence is not in fact new. The term was first coined in 1956, though not until today has it been possible to implement it successfully owing to the large data volumes, highly developed algorithms, high levels of processing power, and improved data storage involved. Artificial intelligence can be divided into two main areas: weak artificial intelligence and strong artificial intelligence.
So-called weak artificial intelligence describes systems that are focused on solving highly specific problems. Examples of such weak AI are character and text recognition, speech recognition, machine translation, navigational systems and autocompletion in searches. Weak artificial intelligence uses methods from mathematics and informatics that are developed to suit the specific requirement and can thus learn autonomously. It is intended for performing clearly defined tasks and cannot vary its method of approach to solving a problem. All AI systems and applications currently in existence are classified as examples of weak intelligence.
By contrast to this, strong artificial intelligence (or superintelligence) describes a system that has the same level of intellectual abilities as a human or even exceeds this. The actions of the system are therefore no longer solely reactive; they arise of its own accord. Such strong artificial intelligence is, for now, still the stuff of science fiction and remains far into the future.
Artificial intelligence offers businesses many advantages and possibilities for application. Make good use of this opportunity and create a competitive advantage for yourself.
